Platinum-cured food-grade silicone, BPA-free and odour-neutral, rated -40 C to 230 C. The cavities are true facets rather than a shallow impression, which dictates the tooling: a faceted piece has undercuts that a rigid mold would snap on, so the base has to flex and the release is a push from underneath. Cavity count, tray footprint, durometer and Pantone color are set per order, and a brand mark can be embossed at the base of each cavity.
Against the 8-cavity square tray, this trades throughput for appearance. Fewer pieces per fill, longer to freeze, and a shape that needs care in the tin rather than stacking flat. In exchange the facets catch light in the glass, and the same mold runs chocolate, jelly and ice cream without a second tool. Bars buy it for signature serves and events; the square tray carries the volume, and most accounts end up stocking both.
The facets are the constraint as much as the selling point. A pour that is too warm or too thin fills the shoulders and rounds the point, so chocolate needs proper tempering and jelly needs a set mix rather than a liquid one. Wash-down takes a soft brush, not a scouring pad, and no blade goes near the cavity. A different stone cut or point count is new tooling quoted from a drawing or a sample.
